Pikemere School places the highest importance on the safeguarding and welfare of children.
The governors, headteacher and staff will carry out their responsibilities efficiently, effectively and diligently to ensure this school is a safe learning environment for all children.
Aims
- To create a learning environment for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- To put into place recruitment procedures that safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
- To make efficient arrangements for checks on new staff and volunteers
- To verify the authenticity of the qualifications of staff
- To check and verify the identity of staff and visitors
Pikemere staff complete Basic Awareness of Safeguarding training and this is updated on an annual basis. Any employees who start after that time receive an Induction which includes safeguarding and sign to confirm they have read and understand the School’s Safeguarding Policy.
DBS Checks
All staff, governors, students and volunteers undertake a DBS check in school. DBS records are kept on the Single Central Record in the school office. Anyone having access to the school who is not DBS checked will be subjected to a risk assessment and will be supervised at all times whilst on site.
All adults in school are required to wear a Pikemere School Identification Badge and sign in at the school office where their identity will be confirmed through official documentation.
All staff recruitment panels include a person who has completed Safer Recruitment in Education training. The headteacher and several governors have completed the NCSL Safer Recruitment course and also hold a current Level 2 Multi Agency Certificate in Child Protection from the Cheshire Safeguarding Children Board.
