Purpose

PSHE and RHE are central to the Vision and Values of Pikemere School. Children need self awareness, positive self esteem and confidence to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to lead healthy and independent lives.

Process

• Clear and comprehensive scheme of work in RHE in line with the National Curriculum
• Regular weekly PSHE/RHE lessons
• Relevant work is recorded in children’s PSHE books
• Events and assemblies with particular focus on Well Being
• Cross-curricular approach to the development of PSHE and RHE knowledge and understanding

Product

Pupils will have the knowledge, skills and attributes to stay healthy, safe and prepared for life and work in modern Britain. They will acquire the ability to navigate the challenges and opportunities of life by building resilience and self esteem. In addition, they will achieve their academic potential, and leave school equipped with skills needed for the future and an understanding of their place in society. Pupils will leave with a knowledge of their world, locally, nationally and globally and have the confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
