Welcome back! We hope you have had a fantastic summer and are ready for an exciting year ahead. In Year 5, you will take on new challenges, learn amazing new things and have lots of opportunities to shine. We are looking forward to seeing you grow in confidence, work hard, be kind and make wonderful memories together. Let's make this our best year yet!
We have lots of great learning to look forward to- including our first trip to the Clonter Opera on Monday 28th September.
This is an overview of our plan for the year:

To help you be fully prepared for Year 5, please bring every day:
To be prepared for our changeable weather, it would be good to bring a coat every day for rainy playtimes as well as a sun hat/cap for sunny ones. A change of footwear to keep in your locker would also be helpful to ensure you can play on the field.
Having the correct equipment with you each day will help you to stay organised and ready to learn.
Please make sure every piece of your uniform is named. You are responsible for looking after your uniform, so having it named will really help you if you lose something!

*Please note that the timetable is subject to change.
Mrs Stannard will be teaching you from Monday to Thursday and Miss Beresford will take over on a Friday. We are both supported by Mrs Bates each day.
Our P.E. days are Thursday and Friday, so please wear your school P.E. kit and trainers on both these days.
Remember to bring a hairband if you have longer hair so that it can be tied up. Earrings will also need to be removed during P.E. lessons.
A maths and grammar piece of homework will be set each Thursday and be due in by the following Tuesday.
It would be good for you to read as often as possible at home.
Practising your times tables will support your rapid recall in maths, so using TT Rockstars regularly is helpful. We will set you off with this during your first few weeks back at school.
You will have a list of the Year 5 extra spellings from the Year 5/6 spelling list, which we will work through each week together. Any additional practice at home will support our work in school.
If you have any questions or worries, please ask us.
