Year 3 Spring Term 2026

Tuesday 6th January 2026

Good morning Year 3! Here is your learning for today:

Grammar

Reading

Read this short story and then have a go at answering the questions below:

Maths:

Practise your multiplication skills using TT Rockstars or Hit the button on the Topmarks website (https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

History:

We are going to be learning all about Ancient Egypt this term, and we started our new book, Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx yesterday. In preparation for this, spend some time researching facts about life in Ancient Egypt. You could make an information poster with what you find out. Here are some useful websites for you to use:

https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/history/article/ancient-egypt

https://kids.britannica.com/kids/article/ancient-Egypt/353087

https://egypt.mrdonn.org/

You could research the pyramids, Pharaohs, the River Nile, Egyptian Gods, what daily life was like etc. It would be great to have some work for our classroom display!

If you do play out in the snow, remember to wrap up warm. Have a lovely day!

Here is our curriculum web:

Homework Information

Homework will be sent home on Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. There will be some English linked to our grammar focus for the week and some Maths also linked to what we have been learning.

We would love you to read as much as you can at home-even 5 minutes every night will really help you in class. Remember, if you do read to an adult, get them to sign your planner.

PE

You will need to wear your full school uniform every day apart from Monday and Thursday. On those two days, you can wear your P.E. kit for the whole day as this is when you will do your P.E. lessons.

On a ThursdayYear 3 will have PE with Mr Ollier and on a Monday afternoon, we will have PE with Miss Cross.

For PE, you will need to wear your navy Pikemere PE polo shirt, navy jogging bottoms or shorts, Pikemere PE hoodie and suitable trainers. Remember to also tie your hair up if it is long and remove all jewellery.

Snacks and drinks

Remember we are a NUT-FREE school and this is because we have some children who have severe allergies to nuts and need to avoid any contact with them.

It would be beneficial to bring a named water bottle too to help keep you hydrated during the day-remember this will help your brain work better.

Don’t forget to name everything you bring to school.

Year 3 Reading Book Suggestions

There is a wide range of reading books in class for you to borrow, but you may bring your own from home if you prefer.

I wonder if you have read any of these?
