Pikemere Governing Board
The Local Governing Board at Pikemere School works very hard to ensure that everyone associated with Pikemere School is provided with every opportunity to develop and grow in a secure and safe environment. In order to ensure this happens the Governing Board members all bring different skills and expertise to the role.
The Local Governing Board at Pikemere is smaller than it has been historically as a result of the school becoming a founding member of Chancery Multi Academy Trust. The Board meets in full once every half term and separate Personnel Committee meetings are convened as and when required.
Our Governors
Chair – Mrs Kerry Hulson (Co-opted) |
Responsibilities: Safeguarding, Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND), Health & Safety Governor since April 2018 Having graduated with a degree in electrical and electronic engineering I joined Staffordshire Police, where I remained until I retired in September 2020. Having completed over 30 years’ service I had a number of roles, including working in murder incident rooms, the Economic Crime Unit and latterly within the Anti-Corruption Unit. |
Headteacher – Mr A Hughes |
The Headteacher at Pikemere School is a Governor unless they elect not to stand. |
Co-opted Governor – Mrs Karen Fuller
|
Responsibilities: Curriculum I have worked in education for the last 30 years having many roles from Assistant Headteacher, Director of Teaching School, gaining accreditation as our own Initial Teacher Training provider in Cheshire East. I recently moved to Manchester Metropolitan University as Head of ITE Primary and Secondary Partnerships. I have always had a strong connection with Pikemere school. As a parent I chose Pikemere School for my own children as its values and those deeply resonate with me. Whilst my own children were at Pikemere I joined the Parent Forum and was subsequently elected as a Parent Governor, and have maintained my connection ever since. I feel very priviledged to work with such committed staff and to see that Pikemere places children’s needs at the very heart of everything they do. |
Co-opted Governor – Mrs Helen Morris
|
Responsibilities: Pupil Premium (PP), Early Years Governor since September 2019 I have worked in education for the last 30 years, seven of them as Principal of Cranberry Academy in Alsager. I have worked collaboratively with all the schools in Alsager through the Alsager Community Trust and through this feel I have a good understanding of Pikemere School. I now work as an Educational Coach and Consultant, mainly supporting Headteachers and Senior Leaders. |

I have led various employability workshops with Prince’s Trust and DWP across England, Scotland, and Wales helping to support individuals to help secure full-time employment. I have a huge passion for supporting local communities and encouraging children to get into STEM subjects from an early age. |
Co-opted Governor – Mrs K Stancliffe |
I have always had an allegiance to Pikemere School. My 3 children attended, and all have fond memories of their time there. I also had many happy years working at Pikemere as a teaching assistant and later as a HLTA, for 8 years until 2007 when I moved to Alsager School. I retired in 2020 having spent 13 years working in Pastoral Support working with teenagers. It was a job where you always expected the unexpected and was a job that I loved. I am currently secretary for Alsager Tangent and in retirement I now enjoy travelling, cycling and gardening. In 2019 I cycled across Costa Rica with 120 other like-minded women raising money for “Women V Cancer”. It was an experience I will never forget. I am looking forward to being a governor at Pikemere and hope my experiences and passion are of benefit to the governing body. |
Parent Governor – Mrs Sarah Whitmore

Staff Governor – Mrs Vicky Beddow
|
During my teaching career I have worked both classroom based and peripatetically within the areas of Social Emotional and Mental Health needs and SEND. In 1999 I was involved in the setting up of The Primary Behaviour Support Team in Stoke-on-Trent and as part of a research MEd looked at effective ways of reducing exclusions in the authority. I have always had a passion to ensure that barriers to learning are overcome for pupils with SEND so that they can achieve their full potential, promoting positive relationships within the classroom and having high expectations are paramount for me. Having taken a 10 year career break after having twins I have recently enjoyed being back in the classroom in the role of a Teaching Assistant. |
Parent Governor – Mrs C Morris

I return to the governing body as a co-opted governor after a 4 year spell as parent governor, having 2 children at Pikemere school since 2016. I have direct links with education through my profession as a primary school teacher within Cheshire East. My experience spans over 20 years and has included work in both Key Stages 1&2 in the state school sector, Early Years in the independent sector and advisory work for CE Early Years and Childcare Team. I am delighted to be a part of the current governing body at Pikemere primary school and hope that my experiences in education and dedication to the success of this school will be of benefit during my time as governor. |
