Year 3 Autumn Term 2025
Our Year 3 team is made up of Miss Cross, Mrs Robbins, Mrs Beddow, Mrs Price and Mrs Shortland.
Our day starts at 8.45am when I will greet you at the Year 3 and 4 entrance. Mrs Robbins will be waiting in the classroom to help you get settled in and ready for our day, and there will be a grammar activity waiting for you in the classroom to get started on. The school gate closes at 8.55am, so arrivals after this time need to come through the office. Our day finishes at 3.20pm.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs Shortland will be working with Year 3 whilst I have leadership time. On Thursday, Mrs Beddow will be your class teacher, and you will have PE with Mr Ollier and French with Madame Leydon. Our PE days will be on a Monday and Thursday. Please come to school in your PE kit on those days.
This Autumn Term, we will be exploring lots of exciting topics. In History, we will learn all about the Stone Age to the Iron Age, which is one of my favourite topics to teach! We will start our writing journey with the book The Lumberjack's Beard, and in Maths, we will be focusing on place value in numbers up to 1000. I hope you are ready for Year 3 because we've got a lot of learning to pack in to the Autumn Term!

Homework Information
Homework will be sent home on Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. There will be some English linked to our grammar focus for the week and some Maths also linked to what we have been learning.
We would love you to read as much as you can at home-even 5 minutes every night will really help you in class. Remember, if you do read to an adult, get them to sign your planner.
PE
You will need to wear your full school uniform every day apart from Monday and Thursday. On those two days, you can wear your P.E. kit for the whole day as this is when you will do your P.E. lessons.
On a Thursday, Year 3 will have PE with Mr Ollier and on a Monday afternoon, we will have PE with Miss Cross.
For PE, you will need to wear your navy Pikemere PE polo shirt, navy jogging bottoms or shorts, Pikemere PE hoodie and suitable trainers. Remember to also tie your hair up if it is long and remove all jewellery.

Snacks and drinks
Remember we are a NUT-FREE school and this is because we have some children who have severe allergies to nuts and need to avoid any contact with them.
It would be beneficial to bring a named water bottle too to help keep you hydrated during the day-remember this will help your brain work better.
Don’t forget to name everything you bring to school.
Year 3 Reading Book Suggestions
There is a wide range of reading books in class for you to borrow, but you may bring your own from home if you prefer.
I wonder if you have read any of these?
